Remember the days as a child when we used to think that we knew everything that there was to know about life? I am sure that by now you have realized that is not the case. Every moment in everyday of life has the potential to offer us lessons there are important for us to learn.
Sometimes we can have so much going on in life that our brains are too jumbled to receive new information. This can come with a set of very undesirable consequences. For example, this could cause you to miss the one life lesson that would help you become a multi-millionaire or accomplish one of your biggest dreams.
We need to make sure that we always keep enough space in our mind to receive life’s lessons. At times this may seem impossible, after all the world can be so chaotic at times that it is hard to even hear yourself think. I assure you though that it is possible and the sooner you are able to do it the quicker things will take a turn in the right direction.
Perhaps one of the best places to begin would be determining what in life deserves your attention and what does not. One of the biggest things that can cause people’s minds to be too cluttered to receive new information is allowing negative influences to flood into them. You should determine what influences you have in life and whether or not those influences have the opportunity to present you with valuable life lessons. If they do not, you may want to consider finding new influences.
Life lessons can also be blocked due to people over complicating their lives. In all honesty, sometimes less is more. People who over burden themselves with multiple car payments and overly large houses are often so stressed with the bills that pile up that they cannot receive important lessons from life. In my opinion a comfortable life is a blessed life. The less material objects we have in life to worry about the more we will be able to focus on what is important such as life’s lessons.
Aside from true life lessons we learn many other things on a daily basis as well. Some of it is important and some of it is not. It is crucial that you are able to push the things that are not that important out of your mind so that there is room for the stuff that is important. For example, you do not want your mind to be so flooded with information about football that you are not able to learn tasks that are essential in your career.
Most of the process of retaining information in life happens involuntarily. By this I mean that we do not really pick and choose what goes into our long term memory and takes up precious space. However, we can train our minds to retain more of the important information as well as exercise our minds so that they may hold more information.
Some of the exercises for training minds don’t feel like an exercise at all. In fact, many mind exercises are designed to be fun and feel more like a game than an exercise.
There are also other alternatives as well. Reading books with your spare time is an excellent choice. Studies have shown that people who read on a regular basis are able to retain more information than those who do not.
Some people do not like to read books and would rather do chores than sit down and read a novel. For these people I am pleased to inform you that TV is an option. However it is extremely important that you watch educational and informational shows that will exercise your mind and not useless stuff that will do the opposite of what you are trying to accomplish. As well, the time that you spend watching TV should be extremely limited, even if it is educational shows.
It is also highly advised that you find time in every day to relax and be alone. We all need time to reflect on our days. In fact it is believed that this is the time where the mind is best able to determine what information we need to hold on to and what can be let go of. Meditation during this time can be extremely helpful but it is not necessary. All you need to do is find a quiet place where you can sort through your thoughts in peace.
You have the power to create a powerful mind full of valuable information and important life lessons or you can fill your mind with a bunch of useless nonsense, the choice is yours. If you choose to have a powerful mind, which I am sure you will, you will need to take the necessary steps to ensure that it happens!
