Creating A New Year’s Resolution That Actually WorksThe new year is approaching fast and a lot of people are talking about what their new year’s resolutions are going to be. Have you made any resolutions for yourself yet?

Most people would answer yes to this question. However, many of the same people likely don’t have any plans to help their new year’s resolution come true. People put a lot of pressure on creating the perfect resolution. Wouldn’t it make much more sense to put more effort into the plan that makes it happen rather than the idea itself?

While it may feel like a magical time around the holidays, we can’t expect our desires and dreams to magically come true simply because we put them into the form of a new year’s resolution.

This is not to say that new year’s resolutions don’t work. As a matter of fact, I believe they are quite important and can lead to the life we truly desire. However, how we approach setting these resolutions is extremely important and should be done with great care and attention.

It’s true that we should all strive for the best life we can create and that we should stop at nothing in order to have an abundant life. Resolutions offer us the perfect opportunity to begin creating the life we truly want. On the other hand, they can also be somewhat of a burden on our back if we don’t know how to accomplish them.

Think about it, the last way you want to start a new year is consumed with stress and doubt because you don’t know if you will be able to fulfill your resolution.

For this reason, preparation and realistic expectation are vital! There are a lot of people who drive themselves crazy with their resolutions because they set unrealistic goals and do nothing to prepare for them until the first day of the year. Trust me, this is an experience that I have experienced personally and something I’m sure you don’t want to go through.

The funny thing about a new year’s resolution is the fact that it can be used as a driving force or it can just make things more complicated than they already are. The trick to learning how to use them to your advantage is learning the correct way to set and follow them.

The following tips may possibly help you create a new year’s resolution that you can stick to and benefits your life:

• Choose one BIG resolution

One of the best things you can do is set one big resolution for the new year rather than several smaller ones. This will allow you plenty of time to focus on a big goal that matters. Basically, when you set one resolution instead of several, you make things a lot simpler on yourself and prevent the need to try and rush through things.

• Plan ahead

Planning ahead is extremely important when it comes to your resolution. The further ahead you plan, the easier the whole process will be. Nobody is going to plan the steps needed to reach your resolution for you so you might as well get to it!

• Progress is progress, even in the form of baby steps

People expect too much out of themselves at times and this can actually lead to more problems than it can benefits. It is very important that you understand that baby steps are still steps, no matter how small they may be.

• Reward yourself

It’s important to reward yourself for the progress you make toward accomplishing your resolution. Something you may want to try is setting milestones that you reward yourself at. This will help you to keep on course as well as refuel your motivation tanks when they are empty.

• You had a reason for setting your resolution, keep it in mind!

There’s a reason behind everything in life, even resolutions. Let’s be honest, there would be no point in a new year’s resolution if everything in our life was perfect. Therefore, keeping the reason why you set your resolution in mind is a surefire way to help you stick to the resolution.

Using the above tips should surely make your new year’s resolution much easier to accomplish and less stressful along the way.

Imagine how good it would feel to be able to accomplish exactly what you want to in the upcoming year. While it may seem like a daunting task at the moment, it is entirely possible and I’m sure you will be able to do it, as long as you take the right steps.

You don’t have to feel like a slave to your life. It is your life and you should be in control. One of the best steps you can take in order to get the reins back for your life is to set a new year’s resolution that puts you on the right track to an abundant and blessed life.

I wish you the best of luck and I know you can do it if you just try!
