Setting goals is a very important part of life. However, when and how you set those goals is likely just as important as the goals themselves.
A funny but true fact would be that all times are not great goal setting times. Some people may be wondering to themselves what the best time to set goals is. Well, in my opinion, there is no better goal setting time than during your free time.
There are several different reasons for this. While it may seem like something better left for another time, using your spare time to create goals that will improve your life is actually quite beneficial.
Let’s go over some of the reasons why your free time is the best time for goal setting…
1. Your Mind Will Be Relaxed
It’s much easier to think when we are relaxed. Needless to say, thinking is an absolute necessity when it comes to setting goals, especially goals that will actually make a difference.
More often than not, the best goals are the most thought out goals. Therefore, it is extremely important that you have a clear mind when you set goals for yourself.
2. More Creative Ideas
Our creative mind functions much better when we are at a state of ease. As mentioned before, we are usually quite relaxed during our spare time which makes it a great time to come up with creative ideas.
Those who are able to tap into their creative minds usually achieve a lot of great things. This is likely due to the fact that creativity allows people to see things from different angles which gives them an advantage when it comes to excelling in life.
3. More Time To Think
Let’s face it, the world is a busy place and if you are anything like me, it can be hard to get a moment to yourself.
People often set their goals in a hurry due to their busy schedules. This unfortunately usually leads to less than satisfying results. The best thing to do when setting goals is take it slow and steady. You don’t want to rush things because rushing leads to little more than overlooking important details and more often than not, little to no results.
4. The Ability To Take A Break And Then Start Again
In all honesty, setting goals can become frustrating at times. The problem with this is the fact that most people tend to operate a lower level of efficiency when they are frustrated.
The best way to deal with frustration is to take a little break. This makes spare time the perfect time for goal setting. During your free time, you will likely have plenty of time to walk away and try again in a few minutes.
On top of that, during your leisure time you will likely be in an area that you can easily occupy your mind with something else for a few minutes. Trust me, even something as simple as a quick 5-minute walk can make all of the difference and have you ready to sit down and set some fantastic goals for yourself.
