I’m sure that we have all heard the old saying “patience is a virtue”. Do you have any idea how true this saying actually is? Many people are unaware of how important patience is and this can negatively impact their life.
Some of the best things in life are brought to us by patience. For example, when a woman is pregnant, it is only natural for the mother and father to want to meet their child for the first time. However, trying to rush the pregnancy in order to make the baby be born before it is ready will surely bring along nothing but negative impacts as well as regret for their actions. The best thing to do is be patient and let the process run its course, the same is true for almost everything in life.
We tend to cut ourselves short in life when we are impatient. Many opportunities that are presented in front of us will likely be passed up or unnoticed. The reason for this is the fact that when we are impatient, we want nothing but what will offer instant gratification. As mentioned before, sometimes quicker is not better!
In today’s busy society, it can be quite difficult to slow ourselves down at times and be patient, after all there are only so many hours in a day. However, you are much more likely to get all of your daily tasks completed and in a much more efficient manner if you exhibit patience.
Those who have the ability to exhibit patience are much more likely to live happy, abundant, and productive lives. They will find that they have an easier time making friends, establishing relationships, and living life in general. The reason for this is the fact that the best things in life will come to those who are deserving and willing to wait.
Believe it or not, patience actually ties in to the law of attraction. Those who are aware of the law of attraction know that we emit energies into the universe which will in turn provide us with the same energies. Being impatient can cause us to emit energies that are driven by a sense of entitlement. While it may be true that the universe provides to those who feel as if they deserve, over entitlement will surely lead to nothing more than negative energy being cast back in your direction.
If things have started to get a little out of control in your life and you do not understand why, you may want to consider doing some reflection on your level of patience. There are many side-effects that stem from being impatient that can be quite uncomfortable for the person experiencing them as well as those around them.
When you are impatient, you can expect to experience:
•Inability to slow down and enjoy your surroundings
•Irritability and anger
•Anxiety and nervousness
•Inability to think something through, snap decisions
On the other hand, when you are a patient person, you can expect to experience:
•Ability to weigh the pros and cons of all situations
•Calmness and serenity
•Better life choices
•Close bonds with others around
•A better life
If you are an impatient person, do not worry because it is something that you can begin changing. With a little bit of practice and the use of the right techniques, a more patient future is likely closer than you think!
One of the best places to start would be to analyze yourself and determine what your signs of becoming impatient are. Once you have determined what those signs are, you will be better able to deal with them the next time they present themselves.
Try one of these patience building exercises the next time you feel yourself becoming impatient:
•Determine whether or not your impatience is justified. For example, is it a life or death situation or just something you are being unreasonable about? Often times, this simple question helps many people realize that they are being unreasonable, as long as they are honest with themselves.
•Deep breathing exercises are effective for many different things. Patience happens to be one of these things. Simply breathe in through your nose and out through your mouth. Repeat this ten times and you will almost surely feel better by the time you are done.
•Practice active listening! Many people think they are good listeners when in fact they are just good talkers. Having the patience to hear someone else’s point of view can offer us many opportunities and blessings in life.
•Last but not least, keep in mind that impatience hardly ever makes things go any quicker. In most cases it actually slows things down due to feelings of anxiety and rushing around.
The more you work on your patience the more patient you will become. Do not feel like a failure if you have a hard time mastering the skill of patience in the beginning. There are people who have been working with their patience for years and have still not mastered it, but it is much better and so is their life!
You can create a better life for yourself. You can have a dream career, close relationships, and abundance in your life and the best place to start to make this happen is becoming a more patient person!
