The mindset that we have greatly influences the level of success and happiness that we will be able to achieve in life. The healthier our mindset is, the higher our chances are of living a blessed and abundant life. On the other hand, unhealthy mindsets produce unhealthy lives.

The scary thing about this is the fact that there are a lot of things that act as toxins to our mindsets. Some of these things cannot be avoided and we must learn to cope with them. However, there are some things that influence our mindset that we do have control over.

A perfect example would be our thinking patterns. While they may not be easy to break, toxic thinking patters should become a thing of the past as soon as possible, at least if a healthy mindset is what you desire.

1. The Blame Game

The blame game never does anyone involved in it any bit of good. Instead, it usually leads to nothing more than fingers being pointed and problems never being fixed.

If something goes wrong, find your responsibility in the matter, if you have no reason to be involved, stay out of it. If you are the one at fault, take responsibility, find a way to fix it and then say nothing more about it.

2. Complaining

It can be easy to fall into a routine of negative thinking patterns that lead to complaining. The problem with this is the fact that complaining is not only ineffective for making things better, it causes problems for others as well and can even be toxic to their mindsets.

Avoid complaining at all costs. Always remember, things could be better but they could definitely be much worse.

3. Avoid The Gossiping Mentality

Gossip is nothing more than a bunch of negativity that gets spread around. Surely you wouldn’t want someone spreading your business everywhere so it only makes sense that they wouldn’t want you doing it either.

The thinking patterns that come along with gossiping are extremely toxic to a person’s mindset. After all, most gossip sessions consist of very little positive things and a whole slew of negative things that are people’s personal business.

4. Sometimes You May Not Know What’s Best For Others

All the time people make the mistake of thinking they know what’s best for someone else. A perfect example would be someone telling a white lie to someone because they think their actions will spare the feelings of another person.

Always remember, honesty is always the best policy. Even when someone’s feelings may be temporarily hurt, they will surely respect you and appreciate you more for it in the long run.

5. The “Fixer” Thinking Pattern

Our job in life is not to fix other people. We can offer them suggestions as well as our hand. However, if they don’t want to take it, we shouldn’t allow it to negatively impact our thinking nor our mindset.

This is a problem that tends to occur in a lot of relationships. One person gets with another with the intention of shaping that person into someone else. This is not the way things are supposed to work. We should always accept someone for who they really are, just as they should do the same for us.

6. Self-Victimizing

One toxic thinking pattern that should be avoided at all costs is self-victimizing. This is the act of constantly making yourself out to be the victim of circumstances, even if the circumstances don’t even necessarily pertain to you. Needless to say, this rarely leads to any positive results when it comes to a person’s mindset, or their happiness with life in general.
