We can achieve a lot of great things in life if we believe in ourselves. Unfortunately, some people have a rather hard time believing in themselves, especially those who deal with a lot of doubt from others.
Some people in your life will likely support you no matter what you choose to do. The encouragement and advice that they give you will likely add fuel to your fire and make you unstoppable. However, there are also likely people in your life that will have doubt when it comes to your capability of achieving certain things.
Believe it or not, some people’s doubts come from good intentions. However, that doesn’t necessarily mean that it is healthy for you or that it will help you become successful. There are also the people whose doubts come solely from the inability to be happy for another person. Sadly, some people just can’t stand to see someone else get ahead in life.
No matter what someone’s reason is for doubting your ability to do something, if you think you can do it, it’s important that you don’t listen to them and prove them wrong. Instead of allowing their lack of belief in you to hold you back, use it as motivation.
It’s not always easy to push beyond the doubt of another person. In fact, it can be quite hard at times. It’s important that you ask yourself a simple question. Is it harder to push beyond someone’s doubt or is it harder to remain stuck in the same set of circumstances and continue to fall short of your goals?
Since it is your life and you are the one who has to live it, why should you ever let the opinion of someone else dictate what you can and cannot do?
There are a few ways that someone can deal with someone who doubts in them. The most obvious would be staying away from this person. However, that may not always be an available option. For example, if it is a co-worker or perhaps even your boss, it’s not like you can simply say leave me alone.
Luckily, there are other effective ways to deal with the doubt of others. In my opinion, one of the most effective techniques is to take pride in proving them wrong. In all honesty, achieving something that someone else said couldn’t be done is an amazing feeling.
Another technique that you may want to give a try is sitting down with the other person to have a conversation with them. Ask them why they are so doubtful in you and make sure to let them know that it’s not really appreciated. Some people may not even realize how they are behaving until you bring it up to them.
If all else fails, you can always increase your own confidence and self-belief. The more you believe in yourself and your ability to achieve great things, the less you will need approval and encouragement from others.
Always remember, it doesn’t really matter what other people think. What matters is what you think of yourself. If you believe you can do something, you’re absolutely right!
